2015 Prize and Awards Winners

The Japan Wood Research Society Prize

The Japan Wood Research Society Prize was awarded to Fumio EGUCHI, Faculty of Regional Environment Science, Tokyo University of Agriculture, for his work “Applications of edible and medicinal mushroom in production technology development and pharmacology”, and Yasuyuki MATSUSHITA, Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University, for his work “Functionalization of sulfuric acid lignin and its application”.

The Japan Wood Research Society Progress Award

The Japan Wood Research Society Progress Award was awarded to Miyuki MATSUO, Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University, for her work “Application of time–temperature superposition principle to color changes of wood during natural aging and heat treatment”.

The Japan Wood Research Society Regional Scientific Promotion Award

The Japan Wood Research Society Regional Scientific Promotion Award was awarded to Hisato ODA, Miyazaki Prefecture Wood Utilization Research Center, for his work “Development of regional material use technology in South Kyushu and contribution to local timber industry”, to Hideyuki KII, Oita prefectural Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Center, Forestry Research Division, for his work “Development of technologies to utilize sugi timber produced in Kyushu and contribution to promotion of regional timber industry”, and to Kazuhiko FUJITA, Hiroshima Prefectural Technology Research Institute Forestry Research Center, for his work “Contribution to the scientific promotion by the strength research of the wood-based materials and the revitalization of wood industries in Chugoku region”.

The Japan Wood Research Society Outstanding Woman Student Award

The Japan Wood Research Society Outstanding Woman Student Award was awarded to Haruna AISO, United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (Utsunomiya University), for her work “Study on anatomical and chemical characteristics in angiosperms for the tree-support strategy against inclination stimulus”, and to Yuka MIYOSHI, Division of Environmental Sciences, Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Kyoto Prefectural University, for her work “Deformation properties of wood in lateral tension”.

The Japan Wood Research Society Best Paper Award

The Japan Wood Research Society Best Paper Award was awarded to Yui KAWANISHI, Nobumasa BITO, Ryogo NAKADA, Takanori IMAI, Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University, Hokkaido Regional Breeding Office, Forest Tree Breeding Center, Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute, Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University, for their work “Visualization of the distribution of flavonoids in Larix kaempferi wood by fluorescence microscopy”, Mokuzai Gakkaishi, Vol. 61, No. 5, and to Kenichi EBE, Noboru SEKINO, Yamagata Research Institute of Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Iwate University, for their work “Surface deterioration of wood plastic composites under outdoor exposure”, Journal of Wood Science, Vol. 61, No. 2.

Mokuzai Gakkaishi (Journal of the Japan Wood Research Society)

Mokuzai Gakkaishi is another official journal of the Japan Wood Research Society. This journal publishes original articles, notes, review articles, and announcements from the Society in Japanese but with English abstracts, tables, and figure captions for original reports.
