  1. Forty-nine specimens were selected from the specimens shown in Fig. 4 for the measurement of cross-sectional parameters of earlywood tracheids. Cross-sectional parameters are shown in Fig. 2. The values represent averages for each range of ring numbers; values in parentheses indicate standard deviations
