  1. Water-saturated: the sample was placed in the water for 24 h, the moisture content of the samples from the inner layer and the outer layer of bamboo was about 65% and 80%, respectively; air-dried: the sample was dried in the oven at 60 \(\mathrm{^\circ{\rm C} }\) until the weight was stable and the moisture content of the samples was about 8–12%; oven-dried: the sample was dried in the oven at 103 \(\mathrm{^\circ{\rm C} }\) until the weight was stable and the moisture content of the samples was 0%
  2. The parameters of the freeze–thaw treatment were set according to the ASTM D 6662-2007
