Effects of initial tree density on heartwood width. Each bar and error bars show a mean and a standard deviation of eight or nine trees of each tree density zoning symbol. Different characters mean significant differences (Tukey HSD, p < 0.05). Initial tree density zoning symbols were the same, as shown in Table 1.
